Profile of the Armenian National Football Team history HFF Hayastani Futboli Federacia was founded on january 1992 and represents Armenia association football and is controlled by Football Federation of Armenia, became a member of UEFA Affiliation in 1992 and FIFA Affiliation in 1992.
Armenia's national team debut played first international match againts Moldova on october 1992. Since 1992 the country's elite footballers have competed in the Armenian Premier League or Hayastani Bardzraguyn khumb. This eight-team division runs from the spring to the autumn, with each side playing the other seven twice at home and twice away. The HFF is also involved in organising the Armenian Independence Cup, which was first contested in 1992, the Super Cup, a national futsal championship and various youth tournaments.

The national team made their competitive debut in qualification for the 1996 UEFA European Championship. Armenia kicked off with a 2-0 defeat in Belgium on 7 September 1994 yet also made history in that EURO '96 campaign. The team recorded their first competitive victory when they won 2-1 in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia on 6 September 1995. Since then Armenia have been a permanent fixture in EURO and World Cup qualifying tournaments, earning the notable achievement of finishing third in their UEFA EURO 2012 group.
So far, the highest position achieved by Armenia in qualifying rounds of international competitions was in Group B of the Euro 2012 qualifying, when they ended 3rd with the most goals scored in their group. Although, Armenia had the opportunity to advance to the play-offs, they lost the last away game against Ireland. Many Armenians disputed the sent-off of goalkeeper Roman Berezovsky which eventually led Armenia defeated in Dublin.
Hrazdan Stadium, the largest stadium in Armenia with more than 70,000 seats, has been used for Armenia national team home matches until 2000. The Republican Stadium was renovated in 1999 and since 2000 it's the home ground for Armenia.
